Seamless steel pipe production has a history of nearly 100 years.

The German Manisman brothers first invented the two-roll skew piercing machine in 1885, and invented the cycle pipe rolling machine in 1891, and the Swiss R.C.Stiefel invented the automatic pipe rolling machine (also known as the top pipe rolling machine) in 1903, and then the continuous pipe rolling machine and various extension machines such as the pipe pushing machine began to form the modern seamless steel pipe industry.

In the 1930s, due to the use of three-roll tube rolling machine, extrusion machine, periodic cold tube rolling machine, the variety quality of steel pipes was improved.

In the 1960s, due to the improvement of continuous rolling pipe machines, the emergence of three-roll piercing machines, especially the application of tension reducing machines and the success of continuous casting billets, improved production efficiency and enhanced the ability of seamless pipes to compete with welded pipes.

In the 1970s, seamless pipes and welded pipes were running neck and neck, and the world's steel pipe production increased at a rate of more than 5% per year. Since 1953, China has attached importance to the development of seamless steel pipe industry, and has initially formed a production system for rolling various large, medium and small pipes.
