1) The commonly used edge processing methods include:edge scraping, edge planing, edge milling, carbon arc air planing, gas cutting, and bevel machining.
2) When it is necessary to eliminate the affected area for edge machining of gas cut parts, the minimum machining allowance is 2.0mm.
3) The depth of the machined edge should ensure the removal of surface defects, but should not be less than 2.0mm. The surface should not be damaged or cracked after machining. When grinding with a grinding wheel, the grinding marks should follow the edge.
4) The edges of carbon structural steel parts should be cleaned after manual cutting, and there should be no unevenness exceeding 1.0mm on the surface.
5) The end support edge of the component requires planing and tightening, and the end section accuracy of the component requires high precision. Regardless of the method of cutting and the type of steel used, the edge must be planing or milling.
6) There are special requirements or regulations in the construction drawings that require welding edges to be planed, and generally, the shear edges of plates or steel sections do not need to be smoothed.
7) After mechanical automatic cutting and air arc cutting of the edges of the parts, the flatness of the cutting surface cannot exceed 1.0mm. The free edges of the main load-bearing components require a machining allowance of at least 2mm on each side for edge planing or milling after gas cutting, and should be free of defects such as burrs.
8) After milling the column end, the top contact surface should have an area of over 75% closely attached. Check with a 0.3mm feeler gauge, and the inserted area should not exceed 25%. The edge gap should also not exceed 0.5mm.
9) The selection of milling mouth and milling amount should be determined based on the workpiece material and processing requirements, and a reasonable selection is the guarantee of processing quality.
10) The end processing of components should be carried out after being corrected and qualified.
11) Necessary measures should be taken according to the form of the components to ensure that the milling end is perpendicular to the axis.
